WAY TO GO!

WHY IS MONITORING AND ACKNOWLEDGING YOUR STRESS IMPORTANT?

Monitoring your stress levels, using a scale, is one way to ensure that you recognize and acknowledge that stress exists in your life and makes you aware of how your body is feeling at that moment.

Monitoring stress allows you to implement the appropriate relaxation techniques (i.e. breath work) to help you become resilient and positively adapted.

THE EFFECTS OF STRESS ON OUR BODY

Stress has a very cumulative effect on the body over time. As noted by the Father of Stress Research, Dr. Hans Selye (2018), if stressors are overlooked, avoided, or suppressed, the body will go through many physiological changes.

As the body goes through the three phases of stress, the sympathetic nervous system becomes overstimulated, exhausted, and eventually tapped out.

Your body will attempt to adapt to constant unresolved stress, causing you to feel unwell, tired, anxious disconnected, disoriented, memory loss, sleep issues, and weight gain.

Next, stressors will negatively impact your cells, your tissues, and your organs. It will cause inflammation, digestive issues, and disturb your breathing functions.

Finally, chronic stress, which is long periods of unresolved dis-stress will have the body breakdown. I

Stress will further evolve into visible clinical symptomology like; autoimmune issues, organ dysfunction, break down and impaired immune responses, hormone imbalance, and depletion, which can then cause further stress-induced illnesses.

Stress-induced illness is referred to as Psychoneuroimmunology
