This Mindset piece was one of the hardest things I had to do when I was diagnosed with Cancer 3 years ago.

I knew in my soul that healing from Cancer ( Multiple Myeloma) was possible. So I’m sharing this with you in hopes I can shed some light on how to overcome ANY adversity that your may be facing…

RADICAL ACCEPTANCE-is the skill of embracing reality as it is-without resistance, denial, or judgment. It doesn't mean we approve of difficult situations, but it allows us to release the struggle against what we cannot change and focus on what we can

Radical Acceptance is like opening your eyes in the dark-seeing things clearly for what they are, even if it's a terrible situation like a Cancer diagnosis! Accepting our current situation helps us find inner peace in the present moment by letting go of resistance.

HOW TO PRACTICE RADICAL ACCEPTANCE

1-Observe when you're questioning mind or resisting of reality. And question IF your mind is being truthful? Most likely, the mind is lying to you to try to scare you into giving up!

2-Remind yourself that your reality is as it is even if it’s painful, and you know that there is ALWAYS A SOLUTION.

3-Allow yourself to feel emotions such as: grief, sadness, frustration-without judgment. Get it ALL OUT and have compassion for yourself. Whe your emotions are cleared out, often you can strategize more effcetively.

STEPS TO TAKE TO PRACTICE RADICAL ACCEPTANCE:

Step 1: Notice when you're struggling against reality.

Step 2: Make an inner commitment to do what ever it takes to change your reality to accept what the struggle.

WHY accept your reality? Because rejecting  your reality doesn't change it. Your MUST FACE YOUR DEMONS. Acceptance is the first step toward change, growth and healing. AN Willingness is responding to reality with openness and flexibility.

Radical Acceptance is NOT:

1.Approval - You don't have to like or agree with what is going on.

2.Passivity - It doesn't mean you stop trying to change what you can change, focus on what is in your control… and generally it is the ability to make informed choices and make exceptional efforts to research what is best for you and take action despite how your “feel”.

3.Resignation - It's not giving up; it's making peace with reality as a first step toward effective action.

4. Radical Acceptance doesn't mean we stop growing-it means we start where we are.
